1. Is His People Potchefstroom an English church?
No, we have both Afrikaans and English services. Our 9am Family Congregation is Afrikaans, as well as our 5pm Student Congregation and Relic, our youth ministry. We have one English Family congregation on Sunday at 11am.

2. Why do you clap and dance and make a noise in Praise and Worship?
Is it not disrespectful towards God?

Our model of Praise and Worship is taken from the bible and we believe it pleases God because that is how He desires to be worshipped. There are many scriptures in the Psalms that command us to clap, dance and make a joyful noise. We celebrate freely the life we have in Christ! There are 7 Hebrew words from scripture that form the basis of how we Praise and Worship:

Yadah - to extend the hands or throw out the hands in worship - 2 Chron 20:19-20, Psalm 63:4
Shabach - to address in a loud tone, to command - Psalm 63:1-4; Psalm 47:1
Towdah - to extend hands in adoration and thanksgiving - Psalm 50:23, Psalm 100
Barak - to kneel in adoration, to bless - Psalm 72:12-15
Zamar - to touch the strings - Psalm 150, Psalm 57:7-9
Halal - to shine, boast, rave, celebrate, be clamorously foolish - Psalm 18:3, Psalm 49
Tehillah - to sing halal - Psalm 22:3, 2Chron 5:12-14

3. Why do you believe in water baptism if you already have been baptised as a child?
The baptism the Bible talks about in Acts is the baptism of believers which means that you allow yourself to be baptised after your own confession of faith in Christ as a public declaration of your decision. When parents dedicate their children to God or bring them to be baptised (at a christening ceremony), it is more like a vow from their side, a promise to grow you up in the ways of the Lord until the day you can make the decision for yourself.

4. Why do you speak in tongues?
The bible teaches us in Acts about the baptism in the Holy Spirit which is for all believers. Speaking in tongues is a free gift given to us by our Father and is evidence of us being baptised in the Holy Spirit. This gift is our own unique prayer language between us and the Lord and is given to encourage us, build us up and strengthen our spirit man. It is for everyone who believes. Benefits of speaking in tongues are having a constant source of encouragement, joy and peace, passion and energy to extend God's Kingdom with boldness.
